Kannappa OTT Release: Vishnu Manchu Says His Film Will Not Have Its Digital Premiere 'Before 10 Weeks'

Vishnu Manchu's most-awaited, mythological epic drama, Kannappa, finally hit the screens on Friday, June 27. While Vishnu plays the titular role, Akshay Kumar, Mohanlal, and Prabhas play important characters in the film. Addressing queries about Kannappa's digital release, Vishnu Manchu, at an event, clarified that his film won't come to streaming platforms, anytime soon. He also revealed that the OTT rights have not been sold yet, so that the film can have its complete theatrical run.

"I have a very large freedom; my movie will not come to OTT before 10 weeks. That is the deal I have, and by God’s grace, I don’t have any release pressure. My only intention is to showcase the best to the audience," the actor said, at a pre-release event of Kannappa.

Generally, movies make debut on OTT platforms 4 to 8 weeks after their theatrical release. In that case, it is a bold move by Vishnu.

Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh government had allowed a Rs 50 increase in standard ticket prices for the Telugu film. In the official statement, circulated online, the AP government stated, "In the circumstances reported in the reference 3rd cited, the Government after careful examination of the request of Sri M Mohan Babu, Producer of M/s Twenty Four Frames Factory Pvt. Ltd., hereby accord permission to the management of all the Theatres in the State of Andhra Pradesh to enhance the ticket rates upto Rs 50/- + GST for 'Multiplexes' and 'Single Screens', (limited to higher class tickets), over and above the admission rates mentioned in G.O.Ms.No.13, Home (General-A) Department, dated: 07.03.2022, for a period of Ten (10) days from the date of first release of the film i.e. on 27-06-2025 "KANNAPPA", in relaxation of the rules/guidelines specified in the references 1st and 2nd cited."

Kannappa received a U/A 13+ certificate by the censor board, with several cuts due to objectionable words and scenes. Reportedly, 12 minutes and 11 seconds in total, were removed from the final version. The final runtime of Kannappa is now 182.51 minutes (3 hours, 2 minutes and 51 seconds).

The magnum opus is reportedly made on a whopping budget of Rs 200 crore.

It is directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh and produced by Manchu’s banners, AVA Entertainment and 24 Frames Factory.
