Filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj is currently gearing up for the release of his upcoming film Coolie, that stars Rajinikanth in the lead role. Lokesh's Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU) already had three films: Kaithi, Vikram, and Leo, led by male actors. In an interview, the director revealed he is planning to have a strong female character in the universe.

Lokesh Kanagaraj revealed he is writing something for actresses, which are new characters to the LCU universe.

In an interview with Galatta Plus, when Kanagaraj was asked if LCU will have a female superhero, he said, "I am writing something for actresses, which are kind of new characters to the LCU universe. There will be 2-3 new characters in the LCU, and you will get an update in Kaithi 2."
However, he didn't reveal much about the characters.
Kaithi 2 is the sequel to 2019 hit Tamil film starring Karthi in the lead. The film marks Lokesh and Karthi's reunion after the blockbuster. The action drama is said to be going on floors by the end of this year.
It is backed by Dream Warrior Pictures and KVN Productions.
Apart from Kaithi 2, Lokesh is also producing Raghava Lawrence and Nivin Pauly starrer Benz, which is also under LCU. He will also work on Vikram 2 with Kamal Haasan. Earlier, Lokesh had also confirmed that he is doing a standalone film with Suriya's Rolex character from Vikram.
Coming back to much-anticipated film Coolie, it marks the first-ever collaboration between Lokesh and Rajinikanth. It also stars Nagarjuna, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj Upendra, and Shruti Haasan. Superstar Aamir Khan will be seen in a special cameo appearance.
The action drama will arrive in theatres on August 14, clashing with Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR starrer War 2, at the box office.
