In this exclusive interview, Neetu shares her life story, career milestones, community contributions, and future aspirations.

Q&A with Neetu Kejariwal

Q: Can you tell us a bit about your early life and background?

I was born in Neamatpur, West Bengal, and raised in a traditional joint family. Growing up, girls were often seen as “paraya dhan,” with marriage prioritized over ambitions. I lost my father early – a kind, charitable man whose values deeply influenced me. My mother, who has faced mental health challenges for over 45 years, showed me what true strength looks like. While I often felt different because of my appearance and background, those very differences helped build the resilience that defines me today.

Q: What inspired you growing up and shaped your ambitions?

My father’s kindness, my mother’s courage, and later my husband Deepak – a doctor with a passion for service – were all my guiding lights. His motto “make a difference” became my own. I moved to the UK at 23, and the adjustment period was tough, but it was during that phase that my dream of becoming a fashion model began to grow.

Q: What were some of the major challenges you faced while starting over in the UK?

The language barrier was huge. English didn’t come easily to me, and I lacked professional skills or a support network. I struggled with self-doubt and felt like I wasn’t enough. But I committed to learning and growth – earning certifications like ECDL, SAGE, Level 2 Payroll, and the AAT Level 4 Diploma. Eventually, I found a role as a Finance Officer and began volunteering to gain experience and give back.

Q: What is your current professional role?

I currently work part-time as a Finance Officer at the RSPCA, a role I value deeply. Alongside that, my husband and I manage businesses in healthcare and real estate. But modelling is my true passion – I’ve participated in international fashion shows, photo shoots, and pageants that allow me to express myself and connect with others.

Q: How have you been involved in community service?

Community work is at the heart of who I am. I’ve volunteered with St Cuthbert’s Hospice, worked with visually impaired individuals, and supported organizations like ActionAid, Save the Children, Cancer Research UK, and the British Red Cross. I believe deeply in food security and try to contribute in whatever way I can.

Q: What have been the biggest milestones in your modelling journey?

Every small step has led to something bigger. From overcoming insecurities and earning professional qualifications to modelling on international platforms. Walking at New York Fashion Week in 2023 and seeing my image in Times Square was surreal. In 2024, I earned titles like Style Icon and Charity Queen at Mrs. Asia Great Britain. And in 2025, being crowned Mrs. International Elite Diva UK at the House of Lords was a dream come true. Most recently, I was honoured as the Fashion Goddess Model Icon 2025 by Face of Woha.

Q: What are your interests outside of work and modelling?

Fitness and fashion keep me energized. I love Bollywood music and dancing, celebrating festivals, cooking, reading, and travelling. These activities connect me to my roots and bring immense joy.

Q: What is your vision going forward?

I want to continue giving back. One of my biggest goals is to establish a charity for girls’ education in India. I also aim to raise awareness about mental health, inspired by my mother’s journey. Another dream is to write a book and share my story, especially to uplift women who feel unseen. Ultimately, I hope to positively impact 10,000 lives through service and storytelling.

Q: What do you think sets you apart from others?

What makes me unique is my journey. I started with no professional experience or confidence. Every milestone has been earned through effort and faith. I believe beauty lies in authenticity, and modelling has given me a platform to challenge stereotypes and inspire others.

Q: Any personal philosophies or quotes you live by?

“Dreams remain dreams until we take the first step.” My husband’s mantra, “Make a difference,” is a guiding principle in my life. I’ve learned that we grow when we step outside our comfort zones, and that we all deserve to have an identity beyond the roles society assigns us.
