Israel carried out fresh attacks on Iran’s underground Fordow nuclear facility, Iranian state television reported. The attack came a day after the United States launched its attack on three key Iranian nuclear facilities.
"The aggressor attacked the Fordow nuclear site again," Tasnim news agency reported, quoting a government spokesperson.
Fordo is Iran's main enrichment location for enriching uranium to 60 per cent and is located 80 to 90 metres below the surface.
The US officials have not yet released the extent of the impact of “Operation Midnight Hammer.’ However, “Given the explosive payload utilised and the extreme vibration-sensitive nature of centrifuges, very significant damage is expected to have occurred," International Atomic Energy Agency chief Rafael Grossi said at an emergency meeting of the body.
Experts have asserted that Iran might have moved a stockpile of near weapons-grade enriched uranium out of Fordow before the attack, Reuters reported.
The United States on Sunday attacked three nuclear facilities in Natanz, Fordow and Isfahan.
According to US officials quoted by CNN, the US used six B-2 bombers to drop a dozen bunker buster bombs on the Fordow nuclear site in Iran, a US official told CNN.
Navy submarines fired 30 TLAM cruise missiles at two other sites, Natanz and Isfahan, and a B2 dropped two bunker busters on Natanz, the official said.
