In a dramatic political development, Telangana BJP MLA T Raja Singh on Monday announced his resignation from the Bharatiya Janata Party, citing discontent over the party’s reported decision to appoint N Ramchander Rao as the new state president. Singh’s move comes amid simmering tensions within the party’s Telangana unit over leadership appointments.

In a letter addressed to BJP Telangana president G Kishan Reddy, the controversial politcian expressed deep disappointment, calling the decision a “shock” to him and to “lakhs of karyakartas, leaders, and voters” who have supported the party consistently. The letter was shared by Singh on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

“As per media reports, Shri Ramchander Rao is set to be appointed as the new BJP State President for Telangana. This decision has come as a shock and disappointment, not just to me, but to lakhs of Karyakartas… who have stood by the party through every high and low,” Singh wrote.

He added that there are many capable leaders within the state MLAs, MPs, and senior party workers who are better suited to lead the Telangana unit, citing their dedication, credibility, and grassroots connect.

Despite stepping down from the BJP, Singh maintained that his ideological commitment to Hindutva remains unchanged. “I remain fully committed to the ideology of Hindutva and the service of our Dharma and the people of Goshamahal,” he stated. “I will continue to raise my voice and stand with the Hindu community with even greater strength.”

Speaking to reporters after his resignation, Singh claimed he had faced several challenges within the party and had been “personally targeted” at times. He reiterated that the BJP has the potential to form a government in Telangana but must be prudent in choosing the right leadership.

“I always say the BJP can form the government in Telangana. The ground-level workers are doing their job. But when it comes to appointing the state president, the party must carefully consider the kind of leader it puts forward,” he told ANI.

The BJP has not yet officially responded to Singh’s resignation or his remarks on internal leadership.
