The scene at Northampton is far from encouraging at the moment. The centre pitch and surrounding areas are blanketed under thick covers, with no signs of ground staff preparing for action. The atmosphere is dull and overcast, with heavy grey clouds hanging ominously above. It’s eerily quiet, and judging by the current visuals, it appears we could be facing a lengthy delay before any play is possible. Fans will be hoping for a break in the weather, but for now, patience is the order of the day.

Let’s not get carried away just yet — while there are some encouraging signs, we’re still in for a bit of a wait at Northampton. The side covers have been removed, which initially lifted spirits, but the hover cover remains firmly in place over the pitch, and tellingly, much of the groundstaff has retreated for now.
