India Vs England, 2nd Test: Mohammed Siraj’s Six-Wicket Haul Powers IND Stunning Fightback At Edgbaston

Mohammed Siraj delivered a sensational spell of fast bowling at Edgbaston to script a memorable chapter in his Test career, helping India seize back control of the second Test against England. The 31-year-old pacer picked up his maiden five-wicket haul in England, finishing with brilliant figures of 6/70 as England were bowled out for 407 after being 387/5 at one stage.

It was also Siraj’s maiden Test fifer against England, and his fourth overall in the format.

Siraj’s fiery spell came just when India needed inspiration. A 303-run stand between Harry Brook (158) and Jamie Smith (171) had threatened to completely shift the momentum towards the hosts, as India’s bowlers toiled without success for much of the day.

But with the second new ball in hand, Siraj rose to the occasion. He found reverse swing, extracted movement off the pitch, and ran through England’s lower order. His partner in destruction, Akash Deep, provided excellent support, claiming a career-best 4/88.

Siraj’s effort not only dismantled England’s resistance but also underlined his growing stature as one of India’s most reliable performers in overseas conditions. In just 38 Tests, Siraj has raced to 108 wickets at an average of around 31, with over 80 of those wickets coming away from home — a testament to his ability to deliver on challenging foreign pitches.

England’s collapse was as dramatic as their recovery had been earlier in the day. After Brook and Smith’s heroics, their last five wickets fell for just 34 runs, with six of their batters registering ducks — their worst-ever tally in a Test innings. Thanks to Siraj’s brilliance, India walked off with a significant first-innings lead of 180 and the momentum firmly in their corner.
