England have added fast-bowling all-rounder Jamie Overton to their squad for the decisive fifth Test against India.

England hold a 2-1 lead over India in the series after the fourth Test at Old Trafford finished in a draw after the visitors stubbornly dug in on day five.

Ben Stokes' side spent 143 overs in the field across the final two days as India denied the hosts an early series win, and the captain said England would require "fresh legs" for the finale.

All four of the Tests so far have gone to day five, while England have largely kept the same attack, with Jofra Archer coming in after the first two matches for Josh Tongue before Liam Dawson replaced the injured Shoaib Bashir for the fourth.

Chris Woakes has bowled 167 overs, more than anyone across both sides in the series, while Brydon Carse (155) and Stokes (140) have also been heavily involved.

Overton won his only previous Test cap in 2022, and he joins Gus Atkinson and Tongue as the other pace bowlers, with England likely to make changes for the final Test.

However, Overton and Atkinson have struggled with injuries in recent months, with England managing their return. Tongue remains England's second-leading wicket-taker of the series with 11, despite missing the last two matches.

The match begins on July 31 at The Oval.

England squad for fifth Test: Ben Stokes (captain), Jofra Archer, Gus Atkinson, Jacob Bethell, Harry Brook, Brydon Carse, Zak Crawley, Liam Dawson, Ben Duckett, Jamie Overton, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Jamie Smith, Josh Tongue, Chris Woakes.
