Corbin Bosch hit his first Test century on the opening day, making him just the fifth South African player to achieve a double of a ton and a five-for in the same Test. Meanwhile, Zimbabwe slumped to their heaviest defeat in terms of runs in the longest format
Zimbabwe went into day four of the first Test requiring 505 to win, and as expected, that total proved well out of reach.
World Test champions South Africa took five wickets in the first hour, with Bosch (5-43) leading the charge.
Having sent Takudzwanashe Kaitano packing with the final ball on Monday, Bosch dismissed Nick Welch for a duck with the first delivery on Tuesday.
Sean Williams (26) also fell to Bosch, before Codi Yusuf (3-22) did for Prince Masvaure (12), Wessly Madhevere (0) and Tafadzwa Tsiga (0).
Wellington Masakadza and Craig Ervine offered some resistance with a partnership of 83, yet Bosch struck again to end the latter's stand one run shy of a half-century.
Masakadza did manage to get over the line when it came to a 50, but succumbed to Keshav Maharaj (1-71) on 57. Blessing Muzarabani had some fun with a 29-ball 32, but Tanaka Chivanga fell to Dewald Brevis (1-22) to cap off a comprehensive South Africa triumph.
Data Debrief: Bosch brilliance
Monday belonged to Wiaan Mulder, with the all-rounder putting on a career-best 147, but Bosch was the star of the show on Tuesday.
He set the tone with the very first ball of the day, and did not look back as he claimed his maiden Test five-for.
