The first flight carrying 110 Indian students evacuated from conflict-hit Iran landed in Delhi early Thursday morning. Amid escalating tensions between Israel and Iran, the students were initially moved from Tehran to Armenia, as part of arrangements made by the Indian Embassy on Tuesday under ‘Operation Sindhu’.

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday offered to mediate the peace talks between Iran and Israel, amid escalating tensions between both nations. He asserted Moscow’s close ties with the two countries that would aid in brokering a deal.

The Israel Defense Forces issued an evacuation warning early Thursday to residents in western Iran’s Arak and Khondab regions.

“The IDF continues to operate in the area, as it has in recent days across Iran, targeting the Iranian regime’s military infrastructure,” the statement from the IDF’s Farsi channel stated, adding that residents must “evacuate immediately from the marked area in the vicinity of the Arak-Khondab cities.”

In a security altert released June 19, the U.S. embassy in Israel stated, "We have no announcement about assisting private U.S. citizens to depart at this time." 

It also mentioned that the Department of State is "always planning for contingencies to assist with private U.S. citizens’ departure from crisis areas."

The notice further stated that an alert will be provided to the U.S. citizen community if there is additional information to share regarding departure options.

Ben Gurion Airport remains closed, and there are no commercial or charter flights operating from there.  Seaports in Israel are also closed.

Israel’s ambassador to United States on Wednesday said that Israel must eliminate Iran's ability to produce ballistic missiles along with Iran’s ability to make nuclear weapons.

“They come cruising out of the sky and create incredible damage,” Yechiel Leiter said. “That production capacity has to be eliminated as well.”

“They cannot have the weapons that can destroy Israel, which they claim and which they want to do every day,” he added.

As per Israel’s military, missile launches have been detected from Iran. The military advised people to follow the security protocols of the Home Front Command.

Interception procedures are underway but the country’s defences are “not airtight”, the military added.

US President Donald Trump has approved plans for the U.S. to strike at Iran but the final decision is still pending, BBC reported. According to CNN, Trump is holding off on the reviewed attack plans to see if Iran steps back from its nuclear program.

Trump is reportedly considering a US strike on Fordo, an underground uranium enrichment facility in Iran, as per BBC.

“I have ideas as to what to do, but I haven’t made a final — I like to make the final decision one second before it’s due, you know, because things change. I mean, especially with war, things change with war. It can go from one extreme to the other,” U.S. President Donald Trump said.

Several buildings in Tel Aviv hit by missiles fired from Iran, Israeli emergency service reports. There are reports of injuries and damage in central and southern Israel.

Israel has attacked Iran’s Arak heavy water reactor, Iranian state television reported Thursday.

The report mentioned that there was “no radiation danger whatsoever” , as the facility had already been evacuated before the attack.

The US Embassy in Qatar has temporarily restricted the access to the Al Udeid Air Base for its personnel. It has also asked for vigilance by  by US citizens in “an abundance of caution” amid regional hostilities.

The US base is the largest such military facility in the Middle East.

Israeli Health Minister Uriel Buso on Thursday said that Iran has crossed a red line by attacking Soroka hospital in Be’er Sheva with a missile.

“This is a war crime committed by the Iranian regime,” Buso said, reported by Israel’s Army Radio.

As per IDF assessments, Iran fired at leasr 30 ballistic missiles at Israel on Thursday.

In the attack on the Soroka hospital in central Israel, three people were seriously wounded, two in moderate condition, and dozens of others lightly hurt.

Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi has issued another warning to the US against direct military intervention.

In comments carried by Reuters news agency, Gharibabadi said Iran does not want the conflict to expand, but is ready to act and “teach aggressors a lesson” if necessary.

Iran’s military decision-makers have “all necessary options on the table”, he said.

Iran’s IRNA state news agency has claimed the “principal target” of the missile strike, which damaged an Israeli hospital, was a nearby technology park it said was used by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

The apparent target,  technology park, is less than a mile from Soroka Medical Center, the Be’er Sheva hospital which was damaged in the strike. Its website says it is “Israel’s most advanced center of research and development… adjacent to the Ben Gurion University campus and the IDF C4i Branch campus.

“The principal target of the attack was the vast command and intelligence base of Israel’s army (IDF C4i) and the campus of their military intelligence, located in the Gav-Yam technology park, next to Soroka hospital in Be’er Sheva,” IRNA said.

The technology park’s website describes itself as “Israel’s most advanced center of research and development… adjacent to the Ben Gurion University campus and the IDF C4i Branch campus.”

Iran’s foreign ministry spokesman has accused International Atomic Energy Agency chief Rafael Grossi and his organisation of being complicit in the ongoing conflict. In a post of X he said it was their “biased” reporting on Iran’s nuclear activities was used as a “pretext” for Israel to attack.

Responding to Grossi’s recent comment that the agency has no hard evidence Iran is actively developing nuclear weapons, Esmaeil Baghaei said: “This is too late.”

“You obscured this truth in your absolutely biased report that was [instrumentalised] by E3/US [France, Germany, the UK and the US) to craft a resolution with baseless allegation of ‘non-compliance’,” Baghaei wrote on X. “The same resolution was then utilised, as a final pretext, by a genocidal warmongering regime to wage a war of aggression on Iran and to launch an unlawful attack on our peaceful nuclear facilities.”

“Do you know how many innocent Iranians have been killed/maimed as a result of this criminal war?” he said. “Misleading narratives have dire consequences, Mr. Grossi, and demand accountability.”

“You betrayed the non-proliferation regime; You’ve made IAEA a partner to this unjust war of aggression”.

The Israeli military confirmed that its fighter jets struck dozens of military targets in Iran overnight, including the “inactive” Arak nuclear facility in what it said was an attempt to prevent its potential use for nuclear weapons development.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) claimed Thursday the facility, about 155 miles (250 kilometers) southwest of Tehran, was designed to product weapons-grade plutonium, a material used in the development of nuclear weapons.

Iran has repeatedly denied that it is building nuclear weapons, and international inspectors and intelligence agencies have yet to find evidence that it is.

“The strike targeted the component intended for plutonium production, in order to prevent the reactor from being restored and used for nuclear weapons development,” the IDF said in its statement.

Nuclear watchdog IAEA has said that it has information that Iran’s Khondab heavy water reactor – also known as the Arak reactor – “was hit”.

However, because the site was “not operational and contained no nuclear material”, there are “no radiological effects”, the IAEA said in a post on X.

The agency added that no information indicates the facility’s heavy water plant was struck.

Iran on Thursday said it targeted an Israeli intelligence and command center “near a hospital,” not the hospital.

“In this operation, the command and intelligence center of the (Israeli) regime’s army was targeted with high precision and in a pinpoint strike near a hospital,” the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) was cited as saying on Thursday by Iran’s state-run IRNA news agency.

The statement didn’t specify the name of the alleged command center it targeted, nor the hospital or their location.

Israel earlier said that in the southern city of Beer Sheva was directly targeted Thursday morning.

More on Iran’s missile strike: The IRGC said its attack used a “combination of suicide drones and strategic missiles.”

“We had previously warned that the entire sky of the occupied territories is defenseless and there will be no safe spot,” the IRGC said, referring to Israel.

IRNA earlier claimed the “principal target” of the strike that damaged the Soroka Medical Center was a nearby technology park it said was used by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

The apparent target,  technology park, is less than a mile from the medical center.

Al Jazeera has reported that Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has confirmed plans to meet with his British, French, and German counterparts, as well as the European Union’s top diplomat, tomorrow in Geneva.

Quoting Iran’s state-run IRNA news agency, Aljazeera said, Araghchi said the meeting had come at the request of the three European states.

In Tel Aviv, near the stock exchange, buildings are being cordoned off because there is fear of falling debris.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping have agreed to exchange sensitive information on the Iran-Israel conflict, the Kremlin said on Thursday.

“President Putin and Xi Jinping in their hour-long phone call have agreed to issue orders to their relevant agencies to share information on Iran,” Kremlin foreign policy aide Yuri Ushakov announced.

He said both leaders hold a similar stance and "strongly condemn Israel’s actions that violate the UN Charter and other norms of international law".

Israel launched Operation Rising Lion last week, targeting Iran's nuclear, missile and military infrastructure. Iran later launched retaliatory strikes on Israel.

On Wednesday, Russia and the United Arab Emirates called for an immediate cessation of the Israel-Iran conflict and an intensification of political and diplomatic efforts to resolve Tehran’s nuclear issue.

According to the Kremlin, President Putin discussed the issue during a telephonic conversation with his UAE counterpart Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Bulgaria has shut its embassy in Tehran and pulled diplomatic staff and their families out of the country, said Bulgarian Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov.

Speaking to local media, Zhelyazkov noted that the embassy is located “in the immediate vicinity” of an area in Tehran that Israel has told residents to flee.

The Bulgarian diplomatic staff and their families evacuated by car to neighbouring Azerbaijan, he added.

Israeli army spokesperson Effie Defrin says in a statement that Israel has struck “hundreds” of surface-to-surface missile launchers in Iran and put them out of commission.

However, he added that Iran “still has the capability to launch missiles as it did this morning” and emphasised that “civilian behavior is the primary defense and saves lives”.

The Russian Foreign Ministry on Thursday urged Israel to immediately halt air attacks on the Bushehr nuclear plant in Iran where Russian specialists work.

Bushehr, Iran's only operating nuclear power plant, uses Russian fuel that Russia then takes back when it is spent in order to reduce nuclear proliferation risk.

Maria Zakharova, the ministry's spokeswoman, repeated a Russian warning to the U.S. not to get involved militarily in the Israel-Iran conflict, saying this would have unpredictable and negative consequences.

An Israeli military official has now said "it was a mistake" for a military spokesperson to have said earlier in the day that Israel had struck the Bushehr nuclear site in Iran.

The official would only confirm that Israel had hit the Natanz, Isfahan and Arak nuclear sites in Iran.

Pressed further on Bushehr, the official said he could neither confirm or deny that Israel had struck the location, where Iran has a reactor.

This comment comes after Israel's defence minister publicly threatened to kill Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Thursday after the latest missile attack from Iran damaged a major hospital and hit several residential buildings near Tel Aviv. Minister Israel Katz said that the Israeli military has been instructed as reports quoted him saying "this man absolutely should not continue to exist."

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said on Thursday that the OPEC+ group of producers should calmly execute its plans and not scare the market with forecasts.

The current conflict has sent oil prices higher.

Earlier on Thursday, our colleague Enes Tunagur reported that Brent crude futures rose $1.06, or 1.4%, to $77.76 a barrel by 1151 GMT.

U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude for July was up $1.26, or 1.7%, at $76.40.

Brent had surged to its highest in nearly five months at $78.50 on June 13, when Israel began its attacks.

The Israeli PM has posted a video of himself outside Beersheba’s Soroka Medical Center, which suffered damage from an Iranian missile attack today.

In it, he claims the Israeli military “accurately hit nuclear targets and missile targets, and they [Iran] hit a hospital, where people can’t even get up and run away”.

“That’s the whole difference in a democracy that acts according to the law to save itself from these murderers and against these murderers who want to destroy each and every one of us”.

Former UN humanitarian chief Martin Griffiths has expressed hope that tomorrow’s planned meeting between Iran’s foreign minister and European counterparts will “shine a light on possible alternatives to war”.

The meeting, scheduled in Geneva tomorrow, is “well-timed” and opportune “not because they’re going to solve the problem”, but because it gives Iran a discrete way to relay its expectations and any concessions it may be willing to make, Griffiths told Al Jazeera.

“A diplomatic solution as evinced by those talks tomorrow could be very, very important,” he said. “A diplomatic deal is always more messy, less efficient in some ways, but it’s safer.”

The WHO’s leader on Thursday denounced attacks on health facilities in the conflict Iran-Israel war as “appalling”, urging all sides to protect hospital buildings, staff and patients.

“The escalation of hostilities between Israel and Iran is putting health facilities and access to health care at risk. The reports on the attacks on health so far are appalling,” World Health Organization director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said on X.

Netanyahu said that following the damage to the Soroka hospital after one missile got through Israel’s defence systems, three people were seriously injured, and 80 people were injured in total.

Most of the missiles today, about 40 in total, came this morning.

The Israelis are also saying they believe that, for the first time, the Iranians fired cluster munitions – and they are much harder to intercept.

The missile explodes high up in the atmosphere, and then it sends these smaller missiles over an eight-kilometre (five-mile) radius, raining on the ground, and so it’s much harder for the air defence systems to intercept them.

The Israelis are worried about some of them not exploding and therefore leaving live munitions trailing on the ground.
