The United States brokered a ceasefire understanding between India and Pakistan on Saturday. This truce intervention came after four days of escalation brought the nations closer to the brink of a fifth war.

The US, led by Trump, Vance and Marco Rubio, spoke with her Indian and Pakistani counterparts and enforced the truce. As per a CNN report, US intervention came after Washington recieved "alarming intelligence."

At 5 PM IST, the truce was declared and all firing was stopped on land, air and sea.

However, hours after the understanding, Pakistan violated the ceasefire along the international border. With drones spotted from Srinagar to Gujarat Kutch, blackouts were reimposed with sirens blaring in parts of India.

Tensions between India and Pakistan escalated after the Indian Armed Forces launched Operation Sindoor - a military strike in response to the April 22 Pahalgam attack.

Following this tri-service strike, India and Pakistan exhcanged regular fire and strikes for the next four days, triggering panic, blackouts and air raid sirens across border towns.
