Mumbai Police arrested a 40-year-old female school teacher from one of India's top most schools for allegedly raping a 16-year-old male student over the course of a year. As per reports, she allegedly committed the acts at various locations, including five-star hotels, and is also accused of putting the survivor on antidepressants.

As per reports, the accused has been arrested by Dadar police under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and the Juvenile Justice Act.

NDTV reported that the accused teacher, who taught the victim English when he was in the eleventh standard, is married and also has children. However, there was no immediate comment from the school on the case at the time of filing this report.

Citing police statements, the report suggested that the accused got attracted to the teenager during various meetings to set up a dance group for the annual school function in December 2023. She also made sexual gestures to the student in January 2024.

A police officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity, mentioned that the student reportedly showed no interest and began avoiding her, following which the teacher allegedly approached one of her female friends for help.

The accused teacher's friend reached out to the minor and reportedly told him that relationships between older women and teenage boys have "become quite common". She reportedly told the student that he and the teacher were made for each other, the officer said. The student then decided to meet the teacher. Subsequently, the teacher picked up the boy in a Sedan and took him to a secluded place. The vehicle has been seized for probe.

"She forcefully undressed him and sexually assaulted him. When the student started feeling anxious over the next few days, she gave him some anti-anxiety tablets," the officer said.

Sharing further details of the incident, a second officer told NDTV that the teacher would also force the student to get drunk before taking him to five-star hotels in South Mumbai and near the airport, where she coerced him into having sexual relations.

According to police, the whole incident came to light when the student's family noticed a change in his behaviour and confronted him. As the student narrated the incident in detail, the family decided not to expose it as he would soon graduate from school and they expected the teacher wouldn't bother him anymore..

However, contrary to the expectation, the situation worsened when the teacher contacted the student even after he left school after clearing his Class 12 board examinations earlier this year.

"The teacher contacted the student through one of her domestic staff and asked him to meet her. The teen's family then decided to approach us and register a case," the second officer said.
