The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier Division 2, the first step for African nations aiming for the 2026 ICC Women's T20 World Cup in England, commences in Gaborone, Botswana. Eight African national teams compete from 20 to 26 July 2025.
To be held over seven days, this tournament brings together eight African nations. Following the conclusion of the event, featuring 20 matches, the top two teams — the winners and runners-up of this division — will advance to the Africa Division 1 Qualifier.
Tournament Format And Participating Teams
The eight teams -- Rwanda, Botswana, Sierra Leone, Cameroon, Malawi, Mozambique, Eswatini, and Lesotho -- will fight for two spots. As mentioned above, 20 matches will unfold over seven days across two adjacent venues: the Botswana Cricket Association (BCA) Oval 1 and Oval 2. The top two teams will progress to the Africa Division 1 Qualifier, scheduled to be in Namibia from August 31 to September 7, 2025.
Teams are split into two groups, followed by cross-over semi-finals and placement play-offs to determine their final standings. This tournament holds high significance, representing a vital pathway for Africa’s emerging women’s cricket teams to reach the global stage through subsequent qualification rounds.
