Esperance Sportive de Tunis will face Chelsea in their final Group D fixture of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 on Tuesday, 24 June. With Flamengo already securing top spot in the group, ES Tunis and Chelsea are locked in a battle to secure the remaining spot in the Round of 16.

CAF Champions League 2024 winners Esperance had a slow start to their Club World Cup campaign with a 2-0 defeat to Flamengo. However, they roared back with a 1-0 win over Los Angeles FC. Youcef Belaili scored the decisive goal in the 70th minute, and their goalkeeper El Mehdi Ben Said made a crucial penalty save in the dying minutes.

With their opponents ahead on goal difference, ES Tunis need a win to continue their fairytale journey in the United States. The Tunisian side have won nine out of their last ten games, with just one loss since April.

Meanwhile, Chelsea enjoyed a 2-0 win over LAFC in their opening game, but were humbled 3-1 by Flamengo. Pedro Neto scored early for the Blues, but poor defensive play and Nicolas Jackson’s red card meant that the English Premier League side lost the game.

The Blues have a number of selection issues to contend with. Jackson’s red card has left them light on attacking options, while Enzo Maresca confirmed that Reece James and Levi Colwill may miss out after being unwell in recent days.
