Tai Baribo hailed an ego-free group after the MLS All-Stars ran out 3-1 victors over the Liga MX All-Stars.

Wednesday's exhibition game, hosted at Austin's Q2 Stadium, drew in a big crowd and provided plenty of entertainment as MLS' best put on a show.

Following a 4-1 loss to the team from Mexico in 2024, MLS' representatives hit back thanks to goals from Sam Surridge, Tai Baribo and Brian White.

The MLS All-Stars have now won three of the four editions of this matchup, having also triumphed in 2021 and 2022.

And Baribo, who coolly slotted home to make it 2-0 early in the second half after latching onto a fine Diego Rossi pass, hailed the unity in MLS' group.

"Here it’s the same as in Philly; we don't have egos there," said the Philadelphia Union attacker, who was named as the game's MVP.

"And when you don't have ego, everybody will succeed and put the team in the first place, the results are coming.

"And you can see it on the field, that everybody’s passing to each other, a lot of unselfish actions, and I think this is the key."

MLS' leading scorer Surridge opened the scoring in the 28th minute, converting from Denis Bouanga's cross.

Gilberto Mora dragged Liga MX back into it 13 minutes after Baribo's goal, but Vancouver Whitecaps striker White made sure of the win late on, after a pair of crucial saves from his club-mate Yohei Takaoka at the other end.

MLS goalkeeper Brad Stuver, meanwhile, made sure to pay tribute to the fans in Austin.

"Austin kept All-Star weird. That's the goal. They did it," said Struver, who was delighted with the noise created at his home stadium.

"This was a showcase of everything that we knew Austin FC and the Austin community could be, and now we got a little bit more eyes on it this week, and I'm glad.

"This is a soccer city. The fans are passionate. No matter where you go, you're going to see jerseys, you're going to see people talking about soccer, and they're going to be talking about Austin FC. So we already knew that, but I'm glad that got a spotlight on it this year."

For Philip Zinckernagel of the Chicago Fire, it was an altogether different experience.

He said: "I didn't even know what to expect, so I was just curious and all excited. It's so American, but I love it. It was fun."
