The start of the second half has seen a flurry of fouls and set pieces, but neither side has made any of them count. Fiorentina, in particular, are growing weary in pursuit of the leveller. Still plenty of time remaining in the game though.

Betis have doubled their advantage courtesy a sizzling goal from Antony. The Brazilian winger has his first attempt blocked but reacts instantaneously to power a right-footed strike into the Fiorentina top corner past David de Gea. The visitors' woes compound.

Luca Ranieri benefits from a wily assist by Robin Gosens to pull one back for Fiorentina. The German midfielder is in a potentially goal-scoring position but instead unselfishly passes it on to Ranieri, who makes no mistake to bring the deficit down to one goal in the opening leg.

The final whistle blows after four minutes (which turned into six) of added time and Betis have the advantage after the first leg. The one-goal lead is not a big one, but could prove crucial in the return fixture. As for Fiorentina, they did pull one back via Ranieri and will eye an improved display at home.

The second leg, which will be hosted by Fiorentina at Stadio Artemio Franchi in Florence, will be held on May 9. The final is scheduled for May 29 and will feature the winner of this tie against the winner of the other semi-final between Chelsea and Djurgarden, where the Blues have taken a 4-1 lead after the first leg.
