Christian Horner is set to be sacked as Red Bull team principal with immediate effect.
Horner has been in charge of Red Bull since their first Formula One season in 2005 and has since led them to six constructors' and eight drivers' championships.
However, Red Bull have struggled this season; they are currently fourth in the constructors' standings, 288 points behind leaders McLaren, with Ferrari and Mercedes also sitting above them.
Max Verstappen, meanwhile, is third in the drivers' standings, 69 points off Oscar Piastri, having won just two Grands Prix this season. He won his fourth consecutive drivers' championship in 2024, thanks to his strong start last year.
Widespread reports on Wednesday emerged with the news that Horner's final race in charge came at Silverstone last weekend, where Verstappen finished fifth, having started on pole.
"Red Bull has released Christian Horner from his operational duties with effect from today and has appointed Laurent Mekies as CEO (chief executive) of Red Bull Racing," Red Bull GmbH said in a statement on Wednesday, as reported by BBC Sport.
"We would like to thank Christian Horner for his exceptional work over the last 20 years," added Oliver Mintzlaff, Red Bull's managing director.
"With his tireless commitment, experience, expertise and innovative thinking, he has been instrumental in establishing Red Bull Racing as one of the most successful and attractive teams in Formula 1.
"Thank you for everything, Christian, and you will forever remain an important part of our team history."
The dismissal comes 17 months after Horner was accused of engaging in inappropriate controlling behaviour towards a female member of staff, accusations he denied and was cleared of following an independent investigation.
Horner is the latest high-profile figure to leave Red Bull, after legendary designer Adrian Newey also left last May, joining Aston Martin.
His dismissal comes amid uncertainty surrounding Verstappen's future, with speculation in recent weeks suggesting he has been in talks with Mercedes over a potential move.
