Shivraj Singh Chouhan Meets Vijay Rupani’s Family, Pays Tributes

Vijay Rupani was the former Chief Minister of Gujarat who died during the Ahmedabad plane crash on June 12.

Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan met with the family members of former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, who lost his life in the Air India plane crash that occurred on June 12, reported ANI. Chouhan praised Rupani stating that he dedicated his life to serve the nation and Gujarat 

“My dear friend, Vijay Rupani with whom I got the privilege to work very closely as the Chief Minister. He was the Chief Minister of Gujarat and I was the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. He dedicated his entire life to the service of the nation. When he was the Chief Minister, Gujarat touched new heights of development. I pray to god for the peace of his departed soul,” Chouhan told ANI.  

Bharatiya Janata Party president JP Nadda and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel also paid their tributes to Rupani during the prayer meet conducted on Friday. Others who attended the prayer meeting for Rupani here included Gujarat BJP chief and Union minister CR Paatil, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and senior leader V Satish, reported PTI.

"His untimely departure is unimaginable. It is very difficult to come to terms with it even now. This loss is not of his family alone, it is a personal loss of every worker of Bharatiya Janata Party. And if we have to pay tribute to Rupani ji in the true sense, then I think we have to keep the worker alive inside us like him," said Nadda in his address at the prayer meet.

Rupani’s last rites were performed with full state honours in Rajkot on June 16. Rupani served as the CM for two terms from August 7, 2016 to September 11, 2021. He was the BJP’s in-charge in Punjab at the time of his death.
