JioHotstar has secured the exclusive digital streaming rights for the highly anticipated five-Test series between India and England, starting June 20 in Leeds.

According to a Cricbuzz report, the deal was finalized in the last 24 hours after prolonged negotiations between JioStar and Sony Entertainment Network, also known as Culver Max Entertainment Pvt. Ltd.

The landmark agreement means that while the series will be streamed digitally on JioHotstar, the linear (television) rights will continue to be held by Sony Sports Network.

“The premier sports broadcast network in the country has completed a digital deal with Sony Entertainment Network,” the report stated.

The partnership also extends beyond the red-ball series this summer. The agreement reportedly covers India's white-ball tour of England in 2026, which includes three ODIs and five T20Is, ensuring JioStar’s digital presence for that eight-match series as well.

Sony had acquired the rights for all England cricket content in India last year, in a comprehensive eight-year deal with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), valid until 2031.

In this particular arrangement, the ECB is understood to have played a key mediating role in ensuring that digital access was granted to JioHotstar while Sony retained its TV broadcasting exclusivity.

Although official statements from either Sony or JioStar have yet to be released, Cricbuzz reported too that a formal announcement confirming the partnership is expected later in the day.

The full schedule for the Test series is as follows:

  • 1st Test – Leeds, June 20

  • 2nd Test – Birmingham, July 2

  • 3rd Test – Lord’s, July 10

  • 4th Test – Manchester, July 23

  • 5th Test – The Oval, July 31
