Malawi defeated Lesotho by 106-runs in the ninth match of ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier Division 2 at the Botswana Cricket Association Oval 1 in Gaborone on Wednesday (July 23, 2025).

Batting first, Malawi posted a defiant score of 162/5 in 20 overs with Febbe Malefula top-scoring with 62 runs. She was well-supported by Lidia Dimba (42) as they took the Lesotho bowlers to the cleaners.

Malawi and Lesotho were placed third and fourth, respectively in the Group A points table prior to this contest.

Lesotho, in reply, lost wickets cheaply. Skipper Maneo Nyabela (18) was the only scorer who could have held her head high with rest of the batters failing to get going. For Malawi, Lucy Malino was pick of the bowlers with a spell of 4/14.

Malawi's victory today meant it took them to four points and put them in contention for a semi-final spot, while Lesotho are almost out of reckoning and need a massive win and for Rwanda to beat Cameroon to have any hopes of advancing.
