Kamal Haasan Heaps Praise On Fahadh Faasil, Vadivelu Starrer Maareesan; Calls It 'Delightful Creation'

Actor Kamal Haasan has lauded Fahadh Faasil and Vadivelu starrer Maareesan, for its 'wit, and depth'. He called it a 'delightful creation'. The Tamil-language comedy thriller is written by V Krishna Moorthy and directed by Sudheesh Sankar. It will hit the screens on July 25.

The story revolves around an Alzheimer’s patient, Velayudham (Vadivelu), embarking on a journey with a a thief, named Dhaya (Faasil).

On Thursday, taking to his X handle, Kamal Haasan wrote, "Watched Maareesan – a film that dances effortlessly between wit and depth, leaving me laughing, thinking, and admiring its craft. Had a wonderful conversation with the team to congratulate them on this delightful creation."

"Beneath its humour lies a socially conscious lens on human emotion and a keen gaze at the darker shadows of our society," he added.

He also called it "inventive, spirited cinema" he "naturally gravitate towards – both as viewer and creator."

The film marks Fahadh and Vadivelu's reunion after two years. Earlier, both starred in Mari Selvaraj’s critically acclaimed film Maamannan (2023). The early reviews of Maareesan are positive and it is expected to receive a good response at the box office as well.

The trailer of Maareesan shows Faasil playing a thief who is on a hunt for his next victim. When he sees Vadivelu, an Alzheimer’s patient, withdrawing a heavy amount of cash, he targets him. Vadivelu wants to go to a friend’s place in Thiruvannamalai, and Fahad's character offers to drop him on his motorcycle. As both embark on the journey, there comes several twists and turns, and their lives changes forever.

Those who have already watched the film in early previews, have praised FaFa and Vadivelu's performances. The songs, BGM, and direction are also lauded.

The film also stars Vivek Prasanna, Renuka and Sithara among others.
