India vs Pakistan is a possibility as the 2025 Asia Cup seems set to take place in the United Arab Emirates, reports emerging out of the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) stated. The AGM of ACC, which took place in Dhaka, concluded on Thursday but the picture regarding the Asia Cup is not yet fully clear.
As per a report in PTI, a source in the BCCI told the news agency that the tournament is likely to go ahead. "The BCCI will host the Asia Cup in the UAE. India is likely to play all its matches in Dubai. There are still deliberations on scheduling," an ACC source told PTI on conditions of anonymity.
A report in the Cricbuzz also stated that Asia Cup is likely to be played. "We cannot say it will happen for sure but there was no impression that it wouldn't happen. The BCCI is sorting out issues with commercial partners and it should take some time," the source told Cricbuzz.
However, BCCI secreatary Devajit Saikia refused to comment on any speculations.
"Our vice-president Rajeev Shukla ji attended the ACC meeting. He will brief the members. I don't believe in speculations so you will get to know officially in a few days time," BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia told PTI.
Eight teams were supposed to play the Asia Cup. UAE, Hong Kong and Oman apart from five Test playing Asian teams India, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan will be part of the tournament if it is played.
The most likely window for the tournament is in early September.
"The decision regarding the Asia Cup will come soon. The venue and schedule will be announced too," Mosin Naqvi, the PCB and ACC head, said after the meeting.
