What is UGC NET?
The UGC NET is a national-level entrance test for people who want to become Assistant Professors or qualify for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in Indian universities and colleges. It’s also accepted by many institutions as a requirement for PhD admissions. In short, this exam opens the door to a future in teaching and research.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the exam, and it takes place in online mode at centres across the country. This June session is one of the two NET exams held each year.
UGC NET 2025 exam pattern
The exam has two papers, both conducted on the same day:
Paper 1 - Tests teaching and research skills (50 questions)
Paper 2: -Based on the subject you’ve chosen (100 questions)
The full exam is 3 hours long and has no negative marking, which is a big relief for many students.
