An IndiGo flight from Ahmedabad to Diu with 60 passengers on board aborted takeoff today July 23, 2025 after one of its engines reportedly caught fire during the takeoff roll.

The incident occurred on flight 6E 7966, operated by an ATR 76 aircraft, which was scheduled to depart from Ahmedabad airport at 11 a.m.

The incident was reported during the takeoff roll and the flight was immediately vacated, Deccan Herald reported.

A spokesperson for IndiGo confirmed the incident, stating:

“A technical snag indication was noticed just before take-off on IndiGo flight 6E 7966 operating from Ahmedabad to Diu. Following standard operating procedure, the pilots informed the authorities and returned the aircraft to the bay. The aircraft will undergo necessary checks and maintenance before resuming operations.”

The airline also issued an apology to passengers, adding:

“We regret the inconvenience caused to our customers and are making every effort to minimize it by offering refreshments, accommodation on the next available flight, or a full refund, as per their preference.”

This incident follows another technical snag reported just a day earlier, when an IndiGo flight from Goa to Indore experienced a fault prior to landing. The aircraft landed safely, and the airline said it would undergo a thorough technical inspection before returning to service.
