The veteran Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader and former Kerala Chief Minister V.S. Achutanandan is to be cremated with full state honours at his birthplace Punnapra.
One of India’s most respected Communist figures and a key presence in Kerala’s political history, Achutanandan died on Monday at the age of 101, drawing the curtain on an eight-decade-long fierce struggle for the proletariat that the southern state had witnessed.
The procession carrying the mortal remains of former Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan reached his hometown, Alappuzha, on Wednesday morning, significantly delayed from its official schedule as reported by PTI.
