India’s HS Prannoy will take on France’s Christo Popov in the round of 16 at the BWF Singapore Open Super 750 tournament on Thursday, May 29, at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
Prannoy, ranked World No. 35, showed resilience in his opening round by rallying from a game down to defeat Denmark’s higher-ranked Rasmus Gemke 19-21, 21-16, 21-14.
The Indian shuttler will be hoping to improve on his recent form, having exited the Malaysia Masters in the pre-quarterfinals following a 21-9, 21-18 loss to Japan’s Yushi Tanaka.
Popov, meanwhile, enters the match high on confidence after a commanding 21-17, 21-13 victory over Denmark’s Anders Antonsen in his round of 32 clash.
