Things have gone from bad to worse for Royal Challengers Bengaluru cricketer Yash Dayal. Already facing a sexual assault case filed in Ghaziabad, Dayal has now been booked by Jaipur police for allegedly raping a minor. The latest development comes just weeks after the earlier complaint surfaced.
According to a report by NDTV, the FIR states that Dayal allegedly raped the complainant over a span of two years, emotionally blackmailing her throughout. He is accused of luring the girl, an aspiring cricketer, with promises of helping her career and inviting her to a hotel in Sitapura, where the first alleged assault took place.
She was 17 years old at the time. Given her age, the police have invoked sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act along with relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
This development comes even as the Allahabad High Court recently stayed Dayal’s arrest in a separate case filed in Ghaziabad. The 27-year-old has been accused of sexually exploiting a woman on the pretext of marriage.
The court sought responses from the state and the complainant after Dayal challenged the FIR, which was registered under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The woman had initially submitted her complaint on June 21 through the chief minister’s online grievance portal, alleging abuse and deception. In her statement to police, she claimed to have been in a relationship with the cricketer for five years.
