Nepal are set to take on the Netherlands in Match 5 of the Scotland Tri-Nation T20I Series 2025 on Thursday, 19 June, at Glasgow’s Titwood Cricket Ground. This will be a replay of their last encounter on Monday, where Nepal suffered defeat in a historic match that included three Super Overs.
After their loss against the Netherlands, Nepal bounced back with a solid two-wicket victory over hosts Scotland, chasing down a modest total of 98 with just one ball to spare. The Gorkhalis’ bowling unit were superb, taking all 10 wickets of Scotland for just 97 runs, with Sandeep Lamichhane posting figures of 4/11.
However, Nepal’s chase was slow, with Kushal Bhurtel (30 off 35) being the only standout player. Contributions from Diprendra Singh Airee (14) and Basir Ahamad (13) meant that Nepal just about got over the line in the low-scoring thriller.
Bhurtel’s performance also made him the highest run-scorer in the tournament with 64 runs in two games. Meanwhile, Lamichhane is the highest wicket-taker with seven scalps in two games.
Meanwhile, the Dutch bounced back from their opening-day loss against Scotland by winning against Nepal in the third Super Over. However, Michael Levitt has scored 56 runs in two games and will be key against Scotland in Match 4, before facing Nepal.
The Netherlands need a win to stay alive in the tournament, as their poor net run rate (-0.975) has placed them at the bottom of the standings before matchday four.
