Bayern Munich have completed a €75m (£65.6m) deal to sign Colombia winger Luis Diaz from Liverpool.

Diaz has been among Bayern's primary targets since the transfer window opened, having an offer worth €67.5m (£58.6m) rejected for the 28-year-old earlier this month.

Bayern targeted Diaz after seeing Leroy Sane leave for Galatasaray on a free transfer and selling Mathys Tel to Tottenham. They will also be without Jamal Musiala for several months after he broke his leg in their Club World Cup defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.

Diaz was named in Liverpool's squad for their pre-season tour of Asia, but Arne Slot confirmed his absence from a 4-2 friendly defeat to AC Milan was due to speculation about his future.

A breakthrough was reached over the weekend, and on Wednesday it was confirmed that Diaz has signed a four-year contract with the Bundesliga champions.

"I'm very happy, it means a lot to me to be part of Bayern – they're one of the biggest clubs in the world," said Diaz.

"I want to help my new team with my way of playing football and my character. My goal is to win every possible title, and that's what we'll work for every day as a team."

Diaz registered 13 goals and five assists in the Premier League last season, as Liverpool captured their 20th top-flight title in their first campaign under Slot.

Since arriving from Porto in January 2022, Diaz is one of just six players to make over 100 appearances for Liverpool in the Premier League, playing 103 times in the competition.

Mohamed Salah (123), Virgil van Dijk (119), Trent Alexander-Arnold (110) and Alisson (109) are the only players with more, with Andy Robertson matching Diaz's tally.

Diaz has scored 29 goals and registered 15 assists in that time, ranking second for direct goal involvements (44) among all Liverpool players, behind only Salah (117).

His departure comes after Liverpool completed big-money moves for attackers Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike, with Newcastle United's Alexander Isak still a reported target.
