FIFA Club World Cup 2025, Round Of 16: Fluminense Beat Inter Milan To Enter Quarter-Finals

Fluminense secured their spot in the quarter-finals of the FIFA Club World Cup by defeating UEFA Champions League finalists Inter Milan 2-0 in their round of 16 match at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte. Despite failing to register a shot on target in their goalless final group match, Fluminense's high pressing allowed them to take the initiative early on. They took the lead within three minutes when Jhon Arias' cross from the right took a significant deflection, setting up Germán Cano to nod the ball home. When Inter Milan finally pushed forward in the 11th minute, Federico Dimarco was denied by a strong save from Fábio after receiving a precise cutback from Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
