Juventus 2-5 Manchester City Highlights, FIFA Club World Cup: MCI Top Group G With Third Straight Win

Greetings and welcome to everyone joining us. We will bring to you the build-up and live updates from the blockbuster Group G face-off between Juventus and Manchester City in the FIFA Club World Cup.

As has been the case all through the FIFA Club World Cup, the players stride out one by one as their names are announced on the public address. The two teams congregate on the pitch alongside the match officials and shake hands. Kick off coming right up.

We are underway in Florida. Juventus attacking from left to right and Manchester City from right to left in the first half.

Jeremy Doku finishes with elan! The Belgian winger makes the most of Ait-Nouri's smart assist, slotting it in in the ninth minute to put Manchester City ahead.

Juventus draw level in next to no time. Man City custodian Ederson commits a big mistake with a misdirected pass, which is intended for a teammate but goes to Teun Koopmeiners instead. The Dutch midfielder lets rip from his left foot and finds the target in the bottom left corner. City's lead lasts just two minutes and Juve equalise in the 11th.

Oh, Pierre Kalulu, what have you done. The French defender has inadvertently put the ball in the back of his own team's net in the 26th minute, and Juventus again trail Manchester City. It was Savinho's cross and Kalulu somehow taps it past his own keeper to notch up an utterly embarrassing own goal.

Juventus custodian Michele Di Gregorio keeps out a shot from Ait-Nouri, diving to his left. And the heavens open up just then. The rain has picked up considerably and comes as a welcome respite for the players, who have been battling the kind of heat many of them are not used to. The rain is not heavy enough to bring the match to a halt yet. First half nearing its end, meanwhile.  

After four minutes of added time, the first half ends with the scoreline reading 2-1 in Manchester City's favour. Pep Guardiola's side dominated possession in the last 20 minutes of that half, and Juventus sure need a change in tack to turn this game around.

We are back underway and Manchester City bring in star striker Erling Haaland for Omar Marmoush at the start of the second half. City attacking from left to right and Juve from right to left. Haaland nearly makes an instant impact as Savinho's ball across the Juventus goal is just missed by the sliding Norwegian forward.

And there it is! We have the near-customary Erling Haaland goal in a key Manchester City outing. The number nine won't perhaps be too happy with his finish, clumsily putting in Matheus Nunes' ball from really close range in the 52nd minute. Would have been criminal to miss from there, and he doesn't. To top it off, it is Haaland's 300th career goal.

Substitute Phil Foden strikes right away. Less than three minutes after replacing Rodri, Foden misses Haaland's assist at first go but after Savinho's touch gets a second, easier stab at it, and pushes the ball into the empty net. City go 4-1 up in the 69th minute, and surely that's the match wrapped up in their favour.

The Cityzens are rampant! Savinho, this time with a bullet of a shot from distance that clatters into the Juventus post before bouncing down inside the goalline. MCI go up 5-1 in the 76th minute, and are set for a resounding third straight win in the Club World Cup.

Juventus finally have something to show in the second half. Dusan Vlahovic latches on to Kenan Yildiz's pass and scores from close range to cut the deficit a tad bit in the 84th minute. This goal would most probably be too little, too late for the Old Lady however.

Haaland sets up Rayan Cherki to score City's sixth, but the latter's shot is nicely anticipated and kept out by Juventus goalie Michele di Gregorio. Three minutes of stoppage time added in the second half.

And that's that. City's dominance is complete with a comprehensive 5-2 win over Juventus. The statement victory is the Premier League club's third consecutive one, making them the only team to finish the group phase with a 100% win record.

Juve too advance, as was pre-ordained, finishing second in Group G with six points. We will know who both teams will meet in the round of 16 later, after the Group H fixtures (Al-Hilal vs Pachuca and RB Salzburg vs Real Madrid) are played.
