On June 27, ONE Championship announced that the young Thai-Algerian superstar has been elevated from the interim titleholder to the division’s undisputed king.
Still just 21 years old, the towering Anane is already forging his legacy as an all-time great. He arrived at ONE in 2023 with loads of hype as the youngest-ever WBC Muay Thai World Champion but lost his promotional debut to pound-for-pound powerhouse .
Undeterred, the Team Mehdi Zatout product then reeled off six straight wins, dominating top-flight opposition with his devastating knee strikes, vicious clinch game, and long-range boxing combinations that have left even the most experienced fighters battered and searching for answers.
Anane capped that epic winning streak with a highlight-reel knockout of Scottish destroyer this past January at to claim the ONE Interim Bantamweight Muay Thai World Title.
Then in March at , he was booked to rematch Superlek in a World Title unification fight at the Saitama Super Arena in Japan. This time, Anane dominated the Thai megastar over the course of three rounds en route to a stunning unanimous decision win.
Because Superlek failed to make weight before that bout, he was stripped of the division’s World Title, and the fight was deemed a non-title affair. But now, Anane has been elevated to the undisputed ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion.
Given his status, Anane can look forward to plenty of potential high-profile matchups – whether it’s a trilogy bout with #1-ranked Superlek, a showdown with current ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing World Champion, or a World Title challenge from any of his division’s top contenders.
