Iran’s Supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei on Thursday declared “victory” over the “fallacious zionist regime.” Khamenei posted on X stating that “With all that commotion and all those claims, the Zionist regime was practically knocked out and crushed under the blows of the Islamic Republic.”
The Supreme leader also levelled criticism against Washington claiming that “My congratulations on our dear Iran’s victory over the US regime. The US regime entered the war directly because it felt that if it didn’t, the Zionist regime would be completely destroyed. It entered the war in an effort to save that regime but achieved nothing.”
Referring to the US strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities, Khamenei asserted that Washington could not achieve much from its operation codenamed Midnight Hammer.
He also referred to Iran’s retaliatory strikes on the US forces in the Gulf stating that “The Islamic Republic delivered a heavy slap to the US’s face. It attacked and inflicted damage on the Al-Udeid Air Base, which is one of the key US bases in the region.”
“The fact that the Islamic Republic has access to key US centers in the region and can take action whenever it deems necessary is a significant matter,” read a post from his official account. “Such an action can be repeated in the future too. Should any aggression occur, the enemy will definitely pay a heavy price,” he added.
He also claimed that the US claimed no achievement from this war. “The US entered the war because it felt if it did not, Israel would be completely destroyed," said Khamenei.
US President Donald Trump on Tuesday claimed that Israel and Iran have reached a “complete and total ceasefire.”
Netanyahu's Statement
While agreeing to the ceasefire proposed by US President Donald Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that, "Israel thanks President Trump and the United States for their support in defense and their participation in eliminating the Iranian nuclear threat."
"In light of the achievement of the operation's goals, and in full coordination with President Trump, Israel agreed to the President's proposal for a mutual ceasefire," the statement added.
Trump had also claimed that his decision to drop bunker-busting bombs on Iran's nuclear facilities as "devastating." He called the outcome as "a victory for everybody".
