BTS member Suga, also known as Min Yoongi, completed his military service on Saturday officially. The rapper took to the fan club, Weverse and penned a heartwarming note for his ARMY. In his post, Suga mentioned he had missed his fans and also thanked them for their love and support. He also reflected on the past incident, hinting at last year's drink-driving case in Seoul, that made headlines.
BTS' Suga's first post after military discharge
Suga wrote, "Hello, armys, nice to meet you. It's me, Suga. It's been like 2 years. How have you all been doing. I'm greeting you all after a long time since I'll be officially completing my service today. It's also a day I've been waiting for, and since it's been a really long time, I thought a lot about how to greet you. First of all, before anything, I'd like to say sincerely thank you very much to you all for waiting till now. I really missed you."
He also shared that he had spent the past 2 years thinking deeply about himself and felt the need to take a step back, especially from the work he had been doing for so long and distance himself. "All this time, I've only been focused on moving forward, barely taking the time to look at myself, but this period gave me the opportunity and time to look back at myself," he added.
Towards the end of his post, Suga also thanked the BTS ARMY and apologised for causing disappointment and worries with last year's incident. "More than anything, I was upset by the fact that I hurt you all. I was also very sorry to the members who had to go through a heavy heart in each of their positions because of me," he added.
The 32-year-old ended his note with the promise that he will work hard to repay all the love fans have given him.
About Suga’s Drunk Driving Case
In August 2024, Suga landed into controversy when it was revealed that he was involved in a drunk driving case while riding an e-scooter. He was taken to the police station and was tested for alcohol. Reportedly, his blood alcohol level was 0.227%, due to which his licence was revoked.
A district court in Seoul imposed a fine of 15 million won ($11,500; £8,600), as per reports.
Post the incident, Suga faced severe backlash on social media- some even protested against him and asked him to leave BTS.
