Indian players who suffered a heartbreaking five-wicket defeat in the opening Test at Headingley, will now look to bounce back and level the series at Birmingham. However, ahead of the Test, some of the stars were seen celebrating the one-year anniversary of the 2024 T20 World Cup victory in a local pub.
As per the video released by the BCCI's social media handles, a cake was brought and was cut by Jasprit Bumrah alongside other stars including Arshdeep Singh and Mohammed Siraj.
Moreover, fans were quick to point out in the video of the absence of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli which was duly felt. The two icons who called time on their Test career, were not part of the celebration.
In the video, one can spot Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja and the T20 WC winning staff celebrating the anniversary. Test captain Shubman Gill was also present at the celebration though he wasn't part of the squad. One person missing from the celebration was Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was not seen in the video.
Rohit and Kohli were integral in India's second T20 WC win with the latter's 76 off 59 balls which proved to be a vital knock in the final.
Speaking of the final, India defeated South Africa by seven runs in a close contest at the Kensington Oval in Barbados.
